Still a Hotel after All These Years... But with Much More

The mid-century Victorian hotel, Hotel Montcalm in Stanton, Michigan, was built in the 1860s and has been a hotel for its entire history. Authentically restored, it now houses an antique store, an Italian restaurant, as well as a hotel furnished with antiques.

From the moment you enter the premises antiques surround you. The entire hotel and all of its rooms are furnished in antiques, all for sale. In fact, Stanton Michigan is in the heart of Michigan antique country.

All of the hotel guestrooms have been refurbished and decorated to reflect the history, style and charm of days gone by, but they feature modern conveniences. Some of the rooms share a bath; others offer private baths. Connecting rooms can be configured to accommodate families or groups traveling together. And all room rates include a full breakfast.

As with many historic hotels, all the guestrooms are on the second floor. At the top of the stairs is a nook that houses The Owl’s Nest Bookstore, another treasure hidden inside the Hotel Montcalm. In the Owl’s Nest you will find hundreds of antique books collected by exclusive pickers. In addition to the fantastic collection of books, there are old record albums, photographs, magazines and even some antique sheet music.

There are lots of family oriented things nearby to occupy your time too. Of course there’s always shopping, but you can fish and swim in many of the nearby lakes, visit an orchard and petting zoo, or ride or hike the Meijer bike trail. Stanton’s Old Fashion Days Festival, held in August, is fun famous, because it includes so much …music, parades, a soapbox derby, a car show, talent show, all day yard sales, a kids pedal car tractor pull and lots and lots of food.
